Emergences conducts  its First Training Workshop

Within the framework of the AFKAR II project, which is funded by the EU, OMSAR held a workshop organized by the technical support NGO Emergences under the title “Financial management: Lebanese legislation and EU requirements”.
The workshop was held in the Lebanese School for Social and Medical Training on December 12-13, 2007 and was attended by representatives from the selected NGOs in both AFKAR II components; in addition to representatives from other NGOs.

The training program included many axes, the first of which contained a detailed presentation by lawyer Ziad Baroud about the Lebanese labor law as well as the law that governs the work of NGOs.
As for financial expert Walid Jalkh, he explained the method of calculating taxes and VAT tax exemption for NGOs, in addition to NSSF-related issues. He also discussed at a later stage the fundamental rules to be adopted in financial management and accounting.
Moreover, OMSAR procurement officer and AFKAR contract manager Rania Kiwan explained in detail the EU procedures that must be followed in the implementation of contracts.

The sessions were followed by Q&As and practical exercises.
