“A Step Away” closed up the second workshop of the TheOther.com entitled “Non-Discrimination and Diversity” on August 20, in the framework of the AFKAR II program, funded by the European Union and managed by OMSAR .

This workshop gathered for a period of 10 days, more than 30 young people age 16, coming from all Lebanese mohafazats and from all cultural, social and religious backgrounds. 

During the workshop, they were introduced to values of non-discrimination and to the richness of diversity, while producing docu-reportage films reflecting their views on “The Other”. The films will be compiled in a DVD that will be distributed to private and public educational institutions, NGOs and other concerned parties.

A group of young people who had previously participated in TheOther project in 2005 are presently being introduced to website creation (graphic design, organizational structure, promotion issues…). This workshop ends on August 26 and will be followed by the second workshop focused on the TheOther.com” website creation, on August 30.
 At the closure of this workshop, they will have achieved the creation of “TheOther.com” website that will link, over the duration of the project, Lebanese youth in forums and constructive idea exchange, focused on the theme of the project.
