PPM organizes training workshops under the “Youth Participation Rights” project
Under the framework of the “Youth Participation Rights” project, which is funded by the European Commission and managed by the Ministry of Administrative Reform (OMSAR), the Permanent Peace Movement organized with trained workers from different NGOs training workshops for youth from 6 governorates in order to prepare them for effective participation and train them on relevant skills and give them a chance to participate in society and gain democratic skills.

3 Youth Participation and Dialogue Empowerment Workshops (Camps) were held by the end of December 2007 and at the beginning of January 2008, to gather around 49 youth and train them, in addition to the participation rights and the effect of their implementation on the youth, on subjects such as Dialogue, Democracy, Leadership, Teamwork, Conflict Resolution, Communication, Planning and Voluntarism.
The first training workshop for the Beirut-North governorates was for 23 youths from Beirut and the North at Madisson Hotel Jounieh on the 26th, 27th and 28th of December 2007. The participants were from both genders, various religious backgrounds, and social conditions. Seven participants were from the Palestinian camps in Beirut and the North.

The second training workshop took place in BETHANIA Harissa and assembled 17 participants from Bekaa and Mount Lebanon governorates on the 4th, 5th and 6th of January 2008. They met and shared their ideas and opinions about all the proposed subjects and activities.
The third training workshop in DAR EL INAYA Salihiyeh brought together only 9 participants from South and Nabatiyeh governorates. Where the trained NGO workers tried to communicate what is needed to prepare them for an effective participation in society and encourage them to be present in the following activities of the project.
A forth workshop is being prepared to try and recruit more youth to this righteous cause. It will be held on the 18th, 19th and 20th of January 2008 in Broumana Garden Hotel. 40 participants from all over Lebanon are expected.
These activities will culminate in planning of activities together on a regional level. The first activity relates to cultural exchange mutual visits in the 6 governorates of Lebanon. And then a national youth conference will be organized where all trained youth will participate in the event as well as key stakeholders. Election of the Youth Council will be undertaken.
