Al-Zawrak  inaugurated "The Center for Social and Vocational Rehabilitation "



Within Afkar II program for the enhancement of the civil society, funded by the European Union and managed by OMSAR, Al-Zawrak Foundation inaugurated on April 17, 2008, in its premises in Fanar, “The Center for Social and Vocational Rehabilitation and Preparation for the Labor Market and Employment”, under the project entitled “The Right of the Persons with Especial Needs to Integration and Employment”.

The director general of Al-Zawrak Foundation, Mr. Roland Tamraz, underlined in his speech that the Foundation has been committed for 22 years now to strive for the integration of the persons with especial needs in the society and in the labor market. He noted that Al-Zawrak project within Afkar II program aims at enhancing the rights of the persons with especial needs, building their skills and facilitating their employment process. He added that the project’s objective is the implementation of law 220/2000, in particular the article relevant to employment and the drafting of legal tools for this purpose.

Then, the coordinator of Afkar II program, Ms Youmna Ghoraib took the floor. She said that “the adoption of Al-Zawrak project stems from our belief in and commitment to the rights of the citizens who should not be subject to discrimination”. She furthermore paid tribute to the efforts made by the working team for the success of the project, thanks to which number of persons with especial needs was employed.

As for Ms Mariett Ziade, she explained the objectives of the Center for Social and Vocational Rehabilitation, as well as the work and the role of the expert trainers within the center. She moreover set out the different phases of the employment, the rehabilitation and comprehensive vocational training.

After that, Mr.Raffi Feghali presented the website of the Center for the Social and Vocational Rehabilitation and Preparation for the Labor Market and Employment. The website allows the employers to be informed about all the activities of the center and gives them the opportunity to offer a job for potential employees with especial needs.

At the end of the workshop, the participants were invited to an open buffet and to visit the center.
