Objectives and fields



With its launching on 14/01/2004, the Afkar program set the objective of supporting civil society, and therefore supported the initiatives of Lebanese NGOs in three sectors:
1- Promotion of Rule of law and citizenship
2- Inter-communal dialogue and reconciliation
3- Support of marginalized groups

The program aspired to develop exchanges and a common understanding between civil society stakeholders (institutions, associations, municipalities and different groups) in order to promote dialogue, strengthen the existing social structure, and be aware of the nature and capacities of the Lebanese civil society for future new activities.

NGOs and non-profit organizations are the direct beneficiaries of this project, which targets :
- Citizens from all confessions, particularly young people
- Citizens fighting for the promotion of democracy, good governance, Rule of law, and the defense of fundamental rights
- Groups with marginalized rights
